Dancing in my seat because we finally have our bedroom finished! Of course, there are a few little things I’m still working on, but I’ve been so eager to start sharing apartment content with you guys! I never realized how long/expensive/challenging decorating our apartment would be, but baby steps, and we finally have our bedroom ready.
This is mine and Jordan’s first “adult” apartment (cause there’s no way I’m counting my mish-mosh of college apartment furniture, decor, posters and tapestry’s from UO)! We had a limited budget, but were able to find everything we needed mainly from Wayfair, Amazon and Target!
P.S. Here’s a link to my romper!
……….
Furniture
I LOVE mid-century modern style and tried my best to stick to that aesthetic throughout the apartment. I wanted our bedroom to be calm, relaxing and fresh! So I went with cool tones & textures. I originally bought a mauve (aka pink) bedspread…it lasted a few months before I came to my senses (or just felt guilty about making Jordan have a pink bedspread) and switched it for the dark blue textured duvet you see here.
Color POP over Jordan’s dresser!
Our bedroom is so bright, the window reflection makes it really challenging to get a good photo of this multi-color print, but it is also from Desenio!
My dresser from Wayfair! I love the mixed walnut and white wood. It’s definitely on the smaller side, but fits perfectly in a small apartment!
Decor
Deciding on furniture was the easy part…decorating was the challenge. Jordan and I have VERY differing style when it comes to artwork. He likes really cool, intricate pieces, where I am lead more by color and cohesion. Somehow, after many nights of scrolling through Desenio.com, we landed on these five black & white prints.
Highland Cow (19.75×27.5in or 50x70cm)
Blue (19.75×27.5in or 50x70cm)
Woman (8x10in or 21x30cm)
Wave (11.75×15.75in or 30x40cm)
Palms (11.75×15.75in or 30x40cm)
**Please note, Desenio is a Scandinavian company and their prints are sold in standard metric sizing. We purchased these frames from Desnio as well to assure an accurate fit. While they are extremely close to standard US photo/frame sizing, I cannot guarantee they will fit standard frames.**
If you follow me on IG (@theincogneatist), you know I am a bit plant OBSESSED! I use plants all over my apartment to add color, texture and life. Especially living in NYC, where greenery can be sparse , I love coming home to a thriving, green home!
I’m still on the hunt for some larger plants to put in the bedroom, but for now, I’ve been buying Eucalyptus to add that green factor. You can usually find these large and hearty leaves in your local grocery store or Trader Joe’s for about $5!
If you’re looking for something a bit more permanent, West Elm has incredible faux plant options, even Eucalyptus (linked above)!
I’m currently planning a gallery wall in the living room and so went with a stacked shelf option for the bedroom. This shelf is from Amazon and all prints & frames are from Desenio!
I knew from the beginning that I wanted a large round mirror over my dresser! This one is from Amazon (are you starting to see a trend yet :p).
I’ve always loved gold & glass accent pieces! They’re great for organizing lipsticks, jewelry and perfume on your dresser or nightstand.
Organization
We have a good amount of storage (by New York standards), but since moving we’ve definitely accumulated a lot more stuff (which really means I’ve accumulated a lot more clothing and skin/hair/makeup products).
Finding a spot for everything is always a challenge and often requires rejiggering the entire room, but I’ve found a few items that make it much easier!
Under the bed it one of the best hiding spots for extra stuff! I found these rolling metal baskets on Amazon and they are perfect for storing bulky sweaters, travel items, overflow toiletries, and seasonal items.
I like to be able to see my accessories, but finding a home for hats and bags is always difficult (especially when you’re sharing a tiny closet). My mom found these round “hooks” and they are absolutely perfect for hats and bags!
You can literally never have enough baskets!
Thanks for reading guys! I’ll likely update this post as I add to the room, but I’m really happy with how it’s come out so far! I was super hesitant to post this because I wanted everything to be “perfect”, but I’ve slowly realized that our homes are always a work in progress. Anyway, lookout for more home posts in the coming months!

I love this! Do you happen to know the name of the black and white palm tree picture? I’m trying to find it on Desenio.

Omg I love it! Could you please tell me what size is the highland cow poster you used?
Author
Hi Natalia! The highland cow poster is the largest size available (I believe 19x27in)!
Can you also send me the link where you got the planter and faux leaves that are placed on the ledge? Thank you!!

Of course! These are actually live eucalyptus leaves, but here is a link to a faux option that will give the exact same look – https://rstyle.me/+v9xCNdeKGlLXt2s3r2l2NQ // Link to a similar vase here (I found mine at Home Goods!) – https://rstyle.me/+p0uhZLumGclHD42CwZyefg xx, Melissa
Can you say the sizes of each picture and frame? The way you have them is perfect and I want to replicate it above my bed!

Hi! No problem, largest prints are 19.75×27.5in/50x70cm, medium are 11.75×15.75in/30x40cm and smallest print is 8x10in/21x30cm. Hope this helps! x, Melissa
