Hot tools, styling, and chemical processing are always to blame for split ends and dried out locks, but it’s often your everyday routine that is really causing the most damage. Making these simple changes is the easiest way to grow and maintain long, soft, and full hair…
6 EVERYDAY THINGS THAT ARE KILLING YOUR HAIR
Your Bag
If you’re like me, you use a shoulder bag to carry your computer, notebook, calendar, wallet, gum, keys, perfume, charger, more gum….needless to say that thing is HEAVY. Every time is falls off your shoulder you’re agitating your hair and causing split ends.
The Fix:Backpack baby! I’ve recently switched to a backpack for my work bag and will never go back. Check out my favorite here.
Your Towel
Using a traditional towel agitates your hair cuticle, causing frizz and damage – this is especially damaging if you have curly or wavy hair!
The Fix: Opt for a cotton t-shirt or mircofiber towel instead. I’ve been using an old vacation tee since high school and I swear to it!
Your Sunglasses
Every time you pull your sunnies on top of your head your damaging the strands that get trapped within the sunglass mechanisms. Yeah, that awful scraping sound you hear when you pull your Ray-Bans off…exactly what I’m talking about.
The Fix: This should be easy, use the case!! For the sake of those baby hairs plz.
This is one I can’t seem to get used to, but have read works like a dream on taming frizz and waking up with smoother hair. Using a satin or silk pillowcase can reduce friction that causes split ends.
The Fix: Swap your cotton or jersey sheets for a satin or silk pillowcase.
Your Brush
Your hair is the most delicate while it’s still wet, so choosing the right brush is critical. Pro tip: Always start brushing at your ends and work your way up. Never detangle straight for the roots!
The Fix: Use a wide tooth comb or WetBrush to gently detangle hair after the shower. I always keep a mini in my bag too!
Your Hair Tie
Keeping your hair in a tight ponytail, bun, or braid all day causes breakage along the hairline.
The Fix: Try this hair tie to prevent pulling and snagging. And remember to give your hair a break, if you wear it up all day, take it down to sleep or alternate days.

Eliminating or changing these everyday habits is an easy ways to improve the health of your hair! Hot tools will always cause the most damage in the shortest amount of time, but cutting that out of your hair care routine can seem impossible. I’m a blowout every few days and curling iron/straightener every day girl so I know how hard it is to completely eliminate the heat.
However, I recently found a heat protectant spray that I LOVE (check it out here)- seriously, I’ve been straightening/curling/blowing out my hair for years without finding one that doesn’t make my hair feel like plastic or add a ton of gunk to my hair. Below are the hair care products I use every single day:

So is it just me or did May FLY by? We shot these photos a few weeks ago when the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. I wish they would stay this soft pink all summer long!
I made extremely last minute plans to go to Wildwood for Memorial Day weekend. What do you guys have planned for the long weekend?
Thanks for reading!
