Holiday Recovery

Holiday Recovery

Happy 2017 everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful/exciting/relaxing new year! The holiday’s can be exciting and stressful all at once and every January 1st, after so much anticipation and preparation, I’m always in shock of how quickly it is all over.

So, I’m here to tell you how to keep the holiday’s alive (in your closet).

Some of you may be saying, “I couldn’t be more over holiday apparel- bring on the new” while others might be thinking, “I bought all of this -ish for holiday parties and New Year’s celebrations- now what do I do with it!?” (I’m writing this post for the latter).

For everyone who bought a sparkly, metallic, sequin covered (or all of the above) article of clothing, and doesn’t know how to wear it now that the holidays are over, you’re not alone!

I do it every year- buy a few special pieces for Christmas & New Years, wear them once, then tell myself “It was worth it, you’ll definitely wear them again” and then (of course) I don’t #classic. But, unlike Christmas lights on January 1st, my love for those shiny items doesn’t fade.

Follow my tips and you’ll be flaunting your glitter encrusted mini dress until May.

1. Sneakers! – Not only do sneakers completely change the vibe of this look, but they’re always chic and (more importantly) always comfortable. If 10 is the most formal, sneakers bring that rating down to a casual 4.

2. Add a print– This cheetah print bag balances out the brightness of the metallic skirt, but also adds a new color to the look.

3. Mix styles– Contrast hard and soft for the perfect balance. Wearing a feminine skirt? Add a leather biker jacket.

4. Add a pop of color – Something about metal tones paired with black or white just screams Party City New Year’s Eve decorations (see here). Break up those tones with blue, burgundy, or green.

5. Do what you want– If you feel good wearing something, wear it! Don’t let the end of a holiday stop you from flaunting what you love!
