Last weekend I took a trip with my friends Alexi (@housegleaves) & Alyssa (@alyssablond) out of the city to Hudson, NY!
Hudson offers a quaint and charming escape from the bustle of NYC! The three of us are based in Brooklyn and had all seemingly forgotten what ‘peace & quiet’ really sounds like! Between sirens, street traffic and construction quiet is never (ever) a thing in the city and I don’t think any of us missed it while we were away.
You’re probably picturing a small town with a few ‘good’ stores and restaurants to choose from….wrong! Hudson is truly the best of both worlds. The charming storefronts house more upscale dining, artisan shops, vintage clothing and high-end home goods stores than one could manage to get through in a weekend. You can really feel the influence from NYC in Hudson – from the price tags to the curated merchandise and design, you’ll forget that you even left the city.
If you’re looking for a low-key getaway with your girlfriends, Hudson is the perfect spot! Small town vibes with metropolitan styles. This is definitely not a ‘let’s pregame and hit the club at midnight’ type trip, but definitely is a ‘sip wine by the fire and go to sleep at 9pm’ trip! Call me lame, but I certainly prefer the latter these days 🙂

HOW WE GOT THERE
We used Maven to rent a car and drive ‘upstate’! Hudson is located only 2 hours outside of the city (perfect for a weekend trip) and with Maven we were able to quickly pick up our car and hit the road.
If you’re not looking to drive, Amtrak is another great option out of NYC. There is a station located on Warren Street (in Hudson) that is within walking distance to most accommodations!
Our cozy Airbnb for the weekend!
WHERE WE STAYED
For a small town, Hudson has plenty of places to stay! We opted for Historic Hudson Hideaway, a cozy and sun-soaked Airbnb perfect for the three of us. Here are a few other options we considered:
- This Old Hudson (Airbnb)
- Rivertown Lodge
- The Carriage House (Airbnb)
- The Wick Hotel
- Victorian Town House (Airbnb)
Warren Street is the main shopping/dining/walking street in Hudson so your best bet is to stay nearby!
WHERE WE ATE
Mexican Radio – Delicious Mexican food & amazing margaritas (they also have dairy free & gluten free options)
Or Gallery & Tavern – Eclectic bar with cool cocktails and live music. Perfect spot to stop for a night cap after dinner and take advantage of the woodturning oven!
Swoon Kitchenbar – New American upscale cuisine
Moto Coffee/Machine – Stop by for a spicy chai latte or savory waffle
Grazin’ Diner – Classic American diner
Lil’ Deb’s Oasis – Pan-Latin cuisine (go for the food, stay for the funky tropical atmosphere inside)
WHERE WE SHOPPED
Warren Street is the main strip in Hudson! There are so many cafes, restaurants, bars, vintage, home and antique stores that a long weekend wasn’t nearly enough time to check them all out. A few of the spots we did get to visit below:
Clothing Shops:
Look Apparel & Accessories – Vintage
MUTINY – Contemporary fashion
Nina Z – Mix of designer and vintage fashion
Slideshow Clothing Co. – Vintage
Home Stores:
The Hudson Mercantile – Antique and vintage furniture. You could easily spend an entire weekend digging through this place!
Red Chair on Warren – Antique furniture
MINNA – Artisan textiles and home decor. It took all of my will power not to buy this entire store!
Adage – Hand-poured artisan candles. You’re lucky if you can walk out without buying one! We all three got a nice votive to remember the trip.
Hudson Home – Modern decor
FINCH Hudson – Antique furniture
I hope you guys enjoyed this guide! Hudson was truly the perfect spot to stay for a weekend and decompress from the grind of NYC. If you’re planning a last minute girls trip you’ll love all there is to do in Hudson and will return home feeling relaxed and reenergized (at least I did!).
I’ll have a recap of all my Hudson outfits here next week!
……….
I’m staying local this year for Thanksgiving and will be celebrating with Jordan’s family on Long Island. I hope you guys have a great holiday and, as always, thanks for reading!
