Last Minute Spring Break Ideas

“Wait…spring break is in a week!!?!” I yell to my roommates as I sit down with a solo cup filled to the brim with Sutter Home Riesling. I find myself saying this almost every year (followed by a rapid search for a cheap way to get out of the country), and as always, nothing. Hey, I know I am not the only one! Spring break is just around the corner and for those of you who have uttered the same words, here are some last minute spring break ideas that you can plan in a jiffy!

  1. Visit your BFF!-Chances are you and your bestie do not have the same spring break. This is the perfect time to finally make that trip you’ve been promising for the last four years. There’s no time like now (especially if you are both graduating in May. Cringe) so hop in that car/bus/train and hit the road.
  2.  Road trip to warmer weather– Living in the north east means warmer weather (at least tannable weather) is not quite here yet. If you’re like me and have never felt this pale in your entire life (eek) – round up some friends and head south for a few days! It all else fails, road trip to your local Walgreens and pick up some Jergens (no one will ever know you didn’t leave your house 😉 ).
  3. Tackle your Pinterest boards–  Is your Pinterest DIY board filled to the brim with tons of projects you just haven’t had time for? Spend the week trying out some of those projects. Who knows, you might end up with a room full of homemade candles or monogrammed wine glasses.
  4. Plan your next vacation– So you messed up this one, but summer is just around the corner! Plan your next vacation to a tee so you won’t find yourself in this predicament again.
  5. Start that one thing you’ve been meaning to do but keep putting off– Maybe you’ve been wanting to start an Etsy account, launch your website, or just go to a new workout class. Use this week to finally do it! No classes, practices or schedules, take advantage of your free time to get to those things that you can’t fit into your regular week.
  6. Day trip to major cities in your area– I am located near a few big cities with tons of cool places to visit.  New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C. are all within day trip distance from my home. Check out a museum, aquarium, botanical garden, or major tourist attraction. Try going during the middle of the week and ditch the weekend crowds. Ticket prices are usually lower during the week too!
  7. Make it a staycation– If you aren’t the only one who didn’t make plans for spring break, whether it’s your boyfriend or roomies, stay home! Binge watch an entire Netflix series together, host your own Harry Potter marathon, make an elaborate meal, or go play with puppies at the local shelter. Relax and kick back- no one can tell you what to do this week.
  8. Cross something off your Bucket List (or make one!)– I’m sure there is a least one thing you can get done in the week of free time. If you don’t have a bucket list- make one!
  9. Get organized– Re-organize your closet and donate (or resell!) those old clothes you haven’t touched in a year.  Switch out your winter and spring wardrobe. Throw out old cosmetics and toiletries that didn’t work quite as well as expected.  Happy Spring Break cleaning!
  10. Study for that big exam– If you’re planning on taking the GMAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, or any of those well know abbreviated exams (that strike fear in the hearts of college students), but may unfortunately determine the rest of your life. Use this week to finally get the ball rolling! I know, it’s not very spring break esque, but this might be just the push you need.
  11.  If all else fails…go home and spend time with your family– Not only will they love to see your beautiful face back home, but there’s nothing like home cooked meals to bring you back to life after a long week of mid-term exams.

These may not be an all-inclusive trip to Punta Cana or a last minute flight to Vegas, but (if you’re like me) this may be the last spring break you get- so make the most of it!

……….

I hope you all have an amazing spring break!
