NYC Bedroom Refresh

Hey everyone! We’ve officially been in our NYC apartment for two months and I’m so excited to share the first home update with you all – the bedroom!

We got extremely lucky that our new space has a nearly identical layout to our Brooklyn apartment so we were able to save and reuse almost all of our furniture. Our bedroom was one of the first rooms I worked on in Brooklyn (you can see it here) and while I still love it, I was ready for some change!

When Walmart reached out and asked me to give a room in my home a quick refresh for fall my first thought was to update our bedroom! The best part is, this entire update cost less than $200. It’s amazing how small things like changing your duvet, new pillows and some updated prints can make a space feel brand new.

Here’s how it turned out!

Our Brooklyn bedroom was blue and the new space is very clearly green!

I wanted to create a neutral, relaxing room with pops of green to tie into the plants and prints I found at Desenio.

I’ve just been loving all things green lately and these velvet pillows & deep green sheets were exactly what I was looking for. I also found this extra long oblong pillow at Home Goods (similar option here) and love the texture that it adds.

I ended up keeping three out of the five prints we originally had and only added the Cactus and Green/Gold Geo print to better match the new linens. Desenio is my go-to for high quality prints! Sizing below:

Highland Cow (19.75×27.5in or 50x70cm)

Cactus (19.75×27.5in or 50x70cm)

Woman (8x10in or 21x30cm)

Wave (11.75×15.75in or 30x40cm)

Geo (11.75×15.75in or 30x40cm)

Our bedroom is a bit bigger in the new apartment so I moved this chair and planter from our living room (check it out here) into the bedroom. I wish I could say it always looks this clear and tidy (ha!).

The bedroom is entirely white, so I wanted to find a neutral toned duvet cover and blankets to make the room feel a bit cozier. This one did not disappoint! It’s so soft and adds just enough color to stand off the white walls. I also added a crisp cotton blanket!

How do you attach the photos to the wall as they lean on the shelf? Or are they just leaning? I’m recreating this room in my guest bedroom, but live in San Diego and have tremors time to time. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi Felicia, love to hear it! There is velcro on the top of the two largest frames and the wall to keep them from moving or falling down. The smaller frames do not have velcro, but we never had issues with them falling! You could definitely try using velcro on the smaller frames for more security! Hope this helps! x
