Hey everyone! I can’t believe we’ve been in this apartment for almost an entire year! I wish decorating was a faster process, but I can finally say the living room is done.
I live in a one-bedroom, 700-something square foot, apartment so aside from the bedroom and bathroom, the living room is the main spot in the house and is completely open. I’ve tried my best to take advantage of every single wall and corner of this space to make it as multipurpose as possible. The living room is our office, bar, eating area, and easily the spot we spend the most time so it had to be both functional and cohesive.
LIVING ROOM
The live plant wall is the focal point of the living room! It’s grown and matured so much since we first built it in Brooklyn (almost 2 years ago!). Check out my step-by-step guide here. We’ve got just under 20 plants of varying sizes taking up every free nook and cranny of the living room.
The new sectional sofa was the final missing piece in this space! Initially, we had two sofas (one large and one loveseat) positioned in an ‘L’ shape. We quickly realized what a huge waste of space it was. This style opens up the living room and is such a better way to get cozy together on the sofa (Yara basically thinks the chaise is her personal puppy bed).
I ordered the Asher two-seat custom sofa from Interior Define with extended length chaise, ecru fabric, and walnut legs. The sofa is beautiful and extremely comfortable! The only downside was ship time…we waiting almost 4 months for this beauty to arrive. If you’re moving soon or just thinking about redecorating, keep ship time in mind when ordering your larger furniture. Partially due to COVID, many furniture deliveries have longer than usual shipping times.
A round coffee table, leather pouf (which is perfect for extra seating), cream pillows, and a deep rust throw blanket finish off the seating area.
Across from the sofa on the green wall (easily my favorite change we’ve made in this apartment) is a media console, tv, shelf, and floor mirror. This is the Hovet mirror from IKEA and it is truly amazing. I cannot tell you how difficult it is to find an affordable mirror at this size! It is nearly 6’5″ tall and 2’5″ wide with a metal aluminum frame and comes to just under $125 after tax…that is a steal. You’ll find smaller options at West Elm, CB2, and AllModern for almost 3x the price.
WORKSPACE
We positioned our extra large desk along the south facing window. Jordan and I both wanted our own individual workspace, and rather than figuring out how to position two desks, we decided on an 8ft. dining table to share! I wrote an entire post on our workspace here!
BARCART
Tucked just behind the chaise section of the sofa is my beloved bar cart! I have a detailed post about the bar cart styling and how I made these custom art pieces here.
I’m working on a very ~unique~ home tour that should be ready in May! Cannot wait to share the entire walk through with you all. As always, thanks for reading! I exclusively share my interiors and other homes that inspire me @melissafruscohome on IG.
