Since I started commuting into Manhattan for work, podcasts have become my best friend! Some days I can spend up to 3 hours (thank you NY/NJ traffic) on the road and a little voice talking into my ear makes the ride infinitely better. Being able to close my eyes and disconnect from a screen after a long day of work is just what I need to unwind.

For the beauty lover: Fat Mascara
As beauty editors, Jess and Jenn, are plugged in on all things beauty. Every week they cover up-and-coming beauty trends, products you need to try (and ones to avoid), and they end every episode with a stellar one-on-one with some of the biggest names in beauty. I’m talking fragrance extraordinaire, Joe Malone, Urban Decay founder, Wende Zomnir, and actress, Dascha Polanco.
Why you’ll love it: You’ll learn about products, treatments, and trends you’ve never heard of before. Plus, the health and environmental impacts of products that might be in your very own beauty cabinet. These ladies don’t hold back and are brutally honest about things they’ve tried themselves. From stick on nails to counterfeit beauty products, high-end and drug store brands, tune in every Thursday for your daily dose of beauty.
For the person who reads Business of Fashion like the Wall Street Journal: Pop Fashion
Lisa and Kaarin talk more than just trends in fashion, but trends in the business of fashion and how world economic changes effect the fashion industry and us as consumers. My go-to for fashion and pop culture news – this is the first place I heard about the qualms of American Apparel and the shifting tide away from New York Fashion Week. Not to mention the juicy “fashion crimes” they cover every week.
Why you’ll love it: These two know their shit and are always on top of the need to know fashion news. If you’re someone who works in fashion you’ll learn so much more about the business environment you’re working in. If you’re not, they make you think about the brands you wear and interact with on a daily basis. Plus, it’s a great way to start off your Friday (they put our a new episode every Thursday!).
For the entrepreneurial minded: How I Built This
Guy Raz, interviews the creators and founders of the worlds best known companies and brands. I’m talking Instagram, DryBar, and Zappos (just to name a few you may have heard of). You’ll learn about their triumphs and failures and the stories behind the companies they’ve built.
Why you’ll love it: These individuals are the innovators and entrepreneurs of our generation and some of the worlds most successful business people. Just listening to them speak will make you want to run out and start a business of your own. I promise you’ll be left feeling inspired at the end of every episode.
