The more I learn about the damaging effects of the sun on my skin, the less I want to expose myself to its harsh and damaging rays. But, that doesn’t change that fact that my pale skin was NOT ready to face the Florida sun in a bikini without a little faux-glow.

Get The Glow
For the perfect, even tan, use a tanning mitt (like this one) and prep your skin with this.
Protect Your Skin
Using SPF is critical to use every single day (even when you aren’t at the beach). I always use Supergoop! makeup primer w/ SPF 30 for every day protection. When I’m at the beach or pool, I maintain my SPF protect with makeup setting spray that contains SPF. Not only does it keep your makeup in place, it’s so much easier that rubbing in sunscreen once you’ve already applied makeup.
Maintain Your Tan
My face always fades the fastest, this is the best for maintaining. You can also extend the life of your tan by moisturizing 2-3 times per day, avoid extra hot shower and being cautious when exfoliating. If you need a little extra definition toward the end of your tan, try Body Blur. LINK

I used the Isle of Paradise Tanning Drops the day before I left for Florida and totally forgot to wash my hands when I finished apply…needless to say I had orange palms for the first few days of the trip (whoops!). If you made the same mistake, are looking a little orange on your feet or knees, or are just not loving the way your tan looks, remove it with this.
