I’d love to say I’m one of those low-maintenance girls, but that would be an outright lie. Some may call it “over-packing”, but I prefer “over-preparing”. What’s wrong with having everything you might need?!
If you’re lucky enough to escape the winter weather and head to warmer temperatures, make sure you have all the bases covered- from sunscreen to an instant camera! Check out my list of beach essentials:
- Round Towel– No explanation needed here. It’s a towel. It’s round. It’s adorable.
- S’well Bottle- Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. With all the
drinkingswimming you’ll be doing you’ve got to stay hydrated! Plus, there’s nothing better than ice cold water after a swim. - Fujifilm Instax Mini– Polaroids are so much fun! If you don’t want to risk bringing your good camera to the beach this is the perfect alternative (and less than $75!).
- Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream– I’ve been using this tinted moisturizer for years. It provides sheer coverage and a dose of SPF 30. Really the only makeup you need for the beach.
- A good book– I just finished reading the Defining Decade by Meg Jay and I cannot stop talking about it. (Seriously, ask any of my friends) This book highlights the importance of making decisions in your twenties to set yourself up for success in the rest of your life. I highly highly recommend to anyone in their twenties!
- Colorescience Powder Sunscreen– This is a new product I found online and while it’s a little pricey it is totally worth it! None of that greasy feeling you get from traditional sun screen and no clogged pores!
- Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm– Smooth lips and a touch of color. Hibiscus is my personal favorite!
- Beach bag– You need something to put all of your goods in, duh. Raffia beach totes just scream tropical to me. Loving this one from Ecote.
- Maui Babe– Shout out to my friend Kim for this one! She showed me this “browning” lotion when I visited her in LA two years ago and I haven’t stopped using it since! Not only does it give you an instant bronze when applied, but it smells just like a coffee shop. *PS this does NOT contain any sunscreen so for the love of your skin, puleasee wear some underneath (the directions even say so!).
- OGX Coconut Curls Frizz Defying Styling Milk– Curly haired girls raise your hand! This one’s for you. In “normal” climates my hair is manageable and I can control my curls…once I head to the tropics, forget about it. This leave in cream acts as a fantastic detangler after swimming and will keep frizz at bay as your hair drys.
